There are so many things you can click on, and most of the names for things don’t really make sense. But fear not! Most of the stuff on the WordPress admin screen you can ignore. If all you want to do is make a place to put text, images, and video, what you need is a page. Follow this guide and learn how to make a page in WordPress.

WordPress is a tool that can help you make websites. If you’ve heard of Wix, Weebly, or Squarespace, they do the same thing WordPress does: they make it easier to build a website without having to code.

What is a WordPress page?

When you have a website, it is made up of individual pages, like a book. The website holds all the pages together, and you can switch between them quickly.

WordPress makes this a little confusing, because you can also make a “Post”, which looks very similar to a page. (click here to learn on the difference between pages and posts) You want a page if the stuff you want to add to your website might change later. Examples of common pages are the “About Me” page, or the “Contact“ page. Most things you want to put on your website are pages. You should use a post when you are making an announcement, diary entry, or news article, things that have a date attached to them. When in doubt, go with a page.
